Three rounded forms in red, green and deep blue rise beneath a broad blue sky in this signed and numbered print by Alima. There’s a suggestion of rolling hills and an open horizon, although the landscape is reduced to a handful of shapes, with the overlapping colours giving the composition its depth and rhythm.

Strong magenta lettering on yellow gives this tall, narrow Mark Spoelstra poster an immediately recognisable look. His name dominates the upper section, followed by the announcement of his final West Coast appearances before a tour of Britain.

Muted blue-grey lettering against a warm yellow background gives this concert poster a softer appearance, with an oversized shared “C” linking the two performers’ names. The generous spacing and relatively simple layout make an attractive contrast to the busier concert bills in the collection.

A particularly engaging Jabberwock design, this calendar brings several weeks of the coffeehouse’s programme together within an ornamental border. Warm ochre colouring, dark lettering and the large Western-style “CALENDAR” heading give it the appearance of a richly detailed community noticeboard.

Black printing, a photographic portrait, and densely arranged event information give this mustard-coloured poster a distinctly documentary character. It advertises talks by Franz J. T. Lee, described on the poster as a South African studying in West Germany, alongside a benefit evening at the Jabberwock.

With an enormous “HELP” occupying most of its upper half, this poster takes a fairly direct approach to promoting a benefit. Burgundy printing on an off-white background gives it a striking graphic simplicity, while the smaller lettering below reveals a programme of music and dancing advertised for 2–5 May 1966.

The advertised performers include Jesse Fuller, Lynn Hughes, Country Joe & the Fish, K. C. Douglas and Dan Paik, with three evenings listed for 28–30 April and the wonderfully open-ended finishing time of “8:30 till ?”.

Purple display lettering and smaller red details sit against a warm yellow background on this poster for David and Tina Meltzer, appearing with Dan Paik at the Jabberwock on 8 and 9 April. Decorative flourishes and the flowing venue lettering give it plenty to look at without overcrowding the design.

Deep burgundy lettering, mustard-yellow paper, and a pair of pointing hands give this Dan Crary poster plenty of presence. Advertising his appearances at the Jabberwock on 11 and 12 February 1966, the wide landscape design feels like an old Western handbill, with Crary’s name taking up almost the entire stage.
