Bill Watrous Jazz Concert Poster – Forum Theatre, Hatfield, 1982
Bright orange, oversized black lettering and a monochrome performance photograph give this jazz concert poster plenty of presence. Advertising Bill Watrous with the Tommy Whittle Quartet at the Forum Theatre, Hatfield, on Saturday 14 August 1982, it has a wonderfully bold layout, from the decorative Forum lettering at the top to the ticket prices along the bottom. Easy Live Auction
Billed here as “America’s Premier Trombonist”, Watrous was admired for his exceptionally fluent playing and warm, melodic sound. His career included work with Quincy Jones, Maynard Ferguson and Woody Herman, alongside his own big band, Manhattan Wildlife Refuge. The concert falls in the year of his first British visit, making it an interesting piece of memorabilia from his introduction to live audiences here.
The printed details add to its charm: a 7.30pm start, tickets from £3.50, and box-office opening hours for anyone planning to collect theirs in person. Against the cream background, the orange panels and heavy typography would look particularly good alongside a record collection or as part of a wall of music and exhibition posters.
Some paper toning and spotting are visible; please come in and see it for condition.

This item can be framed. For this piece, I would recommend a black or red mount and an A1 walnut frame. Frames are solid wood, come in standard sizes, and include standard glass. For specialty framing, I can also recommend a local professional framer.
