Mid-Century Teak Hi-Fi Cabinet

A beautifully simple 1960s teak cabinet, originally designed to house the hi-fi equipment of the day. The discreet ventilation slots along the back of the top are a lovely little clue to its original purpose, letting heat from amplifiers and other equipmentpiece off the floor and add just enough detail without making a fuss escape without disturbing those wonderfully unfussy lines.

The cabinet has two plain, handle-free doors opening onto a divided interior with shelving, giving plenty of useful storage while keeping everything neatly tucked away. Tapered legs and small brass feet lift the whole piece off the floor.

Made in teak veneer with solid timber edging and legs, it has the warm colour and beautifully restrained design associated with British and Scandinavian-influenced furniture of the 1960s.

These days it would work just as well as a record cabinet, drinks cupboard or compact sideboard.
