Mid-Century Teak Secretaire Cabinet

A beautifully proportioned mid-century teak secretaire cabinet, combining generous storage with a cleverly concealed workspace.

From the outside, it has the presence of a compact sideboard, with four drawers to the left and a large cupboard door to the right. Open the door, however, and the cabinet reveals its more unusual side: a fitted desk area with a pull-out work surface, internal storage and space to sit comfortably with a chair.

The timber is especially attractive, with rich warm tones and wonderfully expressive grain across the drawer fronts and large cupboard door. Recessed rectangular handles keep the frontage simple, while the long overhanging top and tapered legs give the piece the light, elegant proportions associated with good mid-century design.

It is a genuinely useful piece for modern living, particularly where a permanent desk would take up too much room. When work is finished, everything can be closed away again, leaving a handsome cabinet.
