Refinished Vintage Coffer / Bedroom Chest
A completely refinished vintage coffer with a bold orange painted finish, a rich dark timber lid and a patterned interior that gives it plenty of personality.
The panelled body has been painted in a warm burnt-orange tone, while the solid timber top has been stripped back and refinished to bring out the grain and age of the wood. The contrast works particularly well here, keeping the original character of the piece while giving it a much more contemporary feel.
Lift the hinged lid and the inside has been finished with a colourful botanical print, turning what would normally be a fairly plain storage compartment into something much more considered. A brass chain supports the lid when open, and the original panelled construction remains visible throughout.
There is plenty of storage inside for blankets, bedding, toys or anything else you would rather keep out of sight. Its generous proportions also mean it could work well at the end of a bed, beneath a window or as a low storage piece in a living room or hallway.
This one has been fully refinished, with the exterior painted, the timber top restored and the interior lined, giving an older piece of furniture a completely new look.
