Poole Pottery Hand-Painted Bluebird Lidded Preserve Pot
This vintage Poole Pottery pot features a wonderfully playful blue bird perched among colourful flowers and sweeping foliage, with a purple band decorating the lid. A small notch allows room for a spoon, making it suitable for preserves or sugar.
Bird motifs became particularly popular at Poole during the 1920s and 1930s, when designer Truda Carter helped establish the pottery's distinctive hand-painted style. This piece carries on that tradition with its simplified bird design and lively use of colour.
