Jopeko Black & White Shrink Glaze Vase
A lovely graphic piece of West German pottery by Jopeko, with an almost reptilian black-and-white crackle glaze covering the entire exterior.
The tall, gently hourglass-shaped form has a narrow waist, rounded base, and flared rim, giving it a particularly elegant silhouette. Against that restrained shape, the glaze does all the work: creamy white breaks into an irregular network of black lines, with larger islands of colour around the upper body and finer crazing towards the base. The glossy black interior provides a strong contrast and carries neatly over the rim.
