G Plan Hexagonal Coffee Table
A vintage G Plan coffee table with a hexagonal glass top, beautifully figured wood grain and an unusual open-sided base.
The design combines strong geometric lines with sweeping curves, particularly in the large cut-out sections that surround the lower shelf. An inset glass panel allows the timber beneath to remain visible, while the dark recessed plinth provides a subtle contrast to the warm tones of the wood.
It's a substantial piece of British mid-century furniture, with plenty of character in the grain and an interesting profile from every angle. The lower shelf offers useful space for books and magazines, while the generous glass surface makes it a practical centrepiece for a living room.
A lovely example of G Plan's more adventurous furniture designs, combining everyday functionality with the distinctive shapes and materials of the period.
