J. Ribero Vallauris Jug
With its golden mustard-yellow body, deep green neck and frothy white glaze, this vintage French jug is a cheerful character. The barrel-shaped body has raised bands and moulded grooves that mimic wooden staves, paired with a generous handle and a satisfyingly exaggerated pouring lip.
Made in Vallauris in the south of France and marked J. Ribero underneath, it has a lovely mix of rustic shape and exuberant colour. The green glaze trickles down from the neck into an irregular, lacy white band, like a barrel enthusiastically frothed over.
